Agharta hard fork for Ethereum Classic
On October 24, the official Twitter of the Ethereum Classic development team announced the launch of the Agharta hard fork.
The new blockchain division is intended to be integrated into the ETH blockchain. Thus, a single ecosystem is being created, which will allow you to conveniently work with two cryptocurrencies at once.
The Agharta network will only support Ethereum Constantinople. In turn, Constantinople is the planned stage of the hard fork of the original ETH. The project itself is called Metropolis, and earlier the first stage of the Byzantium was carried out when the block reward was reduced from 5 to 3 coins. The second stage of Metropolis means increasing the speed of the blockchain, changing the way EVM works, and simplifying the development of smart contracts.
According to the developers, Agharta will be able to support other updates to the ETH hard fork in the future. Popular client programs such as Parity, Geth Classic and Multi-Geth have already confirmed their participation in the project.
The testnet will be introduced on schedule: on November 13, November 20, and December 11, different versions of the blockchain will be tested. The mainnet launch is scheduled for January 15, 2020.
The project will include the following proposals to improve the Ethereum and ETC architecture:
EIP 145 - Bitwise Shift Instructions;
EIP 1052 - implementation of the extcodehash operating code;
EIP 1014 is the slim and fast create2 operating cog.
As a reminder, Ethereum Classic appeared after a hacker attack on the DAO network using the ETH structure. Thus, ETH and ETC have an identical structure.
